IAS reshuffle: Greater Mumbai collector Ashwini Joshi is shifted out

Mumbai: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Devendra Fadnavis government late on Saturday night shifted as many as 60 IAS officers. The one that is being most talked about is the shifting of Mumbai collector Ashwini Joshi to the post of state excise commissioner.

Joshi is believed to have ruffled many influential feathers by her actions and despite being close to the ruling dispensation, the Fadnavis regime had to give in.

Among others, Joshi had sealed the prestigious World Trade Centre for alleged violation of conditions in the lease agreement. She had also cracked down on the elite Bombay Gymkhana, whose members comprise the who’s who of the city. Joshi also took action against Cambata Aviation and sealed the Eros building.


SVR Sriniwas has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. He is the bureaucrat who was abruptly transferred when a scam related to roads surfaced involving Rs 350 crore.

Another prominent bureaucrat Mahesh Zagade will be the new Divisional Commissioner of Nasik division and Chandrakant Dalvi has been sent to Pune as the divisional commissioner.
