Thane fruit-seller’s murder case cracked, four arrested


Mira Road: With the arrest of four persons from a remote village in Jharkhand, sleuths of the Thane (rural) police claimed to have solved the murder of fruit vendor Shyamu Lahori Gaud (40) who was shot dead at his tenement in the MIDC area of Mira village on April 6.

As suspected, monetary dispute emerged as the motive behind the crime. Investigations led to the suspected involvement of the prime accused Sunilkumar Bituli Razak alias Raju (35) who was locked in a monetary dispute with the deceased. After questioning, it came to light that Raju had hired contract killers for Rs 5 lakh to execute the crime.

With the help of their local counterparts in Jharkhand, a local Crime Branch team led by API Prafful Wagh apprehended the trio. They were identified as Sudip Raju Ravidas (23), Ashish Kumar Tilak Bhuiya (19) and Bablu Kailas Ravidas (19).

The prime suspect Raju, who is accused of murdering his wife, was recently released on bail. The gun used in the crime has been recovered and the quartet have been booked under Section 302 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act. Sr PI Vilas Sanap is conducting further investigations into the case.
